Have a HEART Chapter 1~Heart For God

As a homeschool mom I was busy, but as a work at home, homeschooling mom I am BUSY.  Sometime during this busyness, I can lose sight of what matters.  I can get so focused on my children’s education and their projects, keeping house, working, blogging and trying to keep up with it all, that I lose focus on God.

You know what happens when I lose focus on God?  Life gets bad, chaotic, and many times miserable. 

Why

Because when we stray like sheep, our Shepherd pulls us back in by putting us on our knees.

So, remember to not get so focused on your children, home, and work, that you lose focus on God.

Homeschooling is more then educating our children.  Our children need us to teach them through example about God, God’s love and how to worship our Father.  We must imitate Christ so our children have character models to imitate.  Read that again…We MUST model Christ, so our children have models of character to imitate. 

Now, where does my life fit in with all the wonderful insight I gathered from this?  I have a lot of work to do…Honestly, I see more imitating of my bad habits then God in my children.  I do have a regular quiet time, actually, since it does get interrupted, I have many meetings with God.  I need to be sure though, that I meet with Him when I am frustrated, rather then waiting until it quiets down.

I am great at praying for others…but I tend to forget my needs.  I am not sure why, that goes back to meeting with God during the times I am frustrated.  It is like, I believe I can take care of it all on my own. I know that isn’t true, but, I seem to not be “measuring” up in this area.

I am excited to start chapter two, and can’t wait to learn more about Having a Heart for My Kids.
