Choosing curriculum can be the most fun and also the most challenging part of homeschooling. Lots of prayer and thought go into choosing our homeschool resources. Each decision is not made lightly, in fact it can take months or even years to actually break down and buy something that you believe will work well for your family.
Add various special needs to the mix, and various ages, and boy you have what may be an overwhelming challenge ahead of you. I have become a “pro” at modifying curriculum to meet our needs. This year, I am going to be doing some quite intensive therapies with three of my children. I pray this will help make learning more fun and enjoyable for them.
This year, I bought back something I sold two years ago. All About Spelling is one of those resources that is highly recommended, and now that we are a bit older and stronger in our routines, I pray to make it work better. It is a hands one, auditory and visual spelling curriculum. I believe it will work with all my children this year. I was able to purchase at a very reasonable price from a dear friend, so I am super excited.
My kindergarten through first grade children will be learning together. These include an advanced 3.5 year old, a slightly below average 5 year old, and a visually impaired six year old. They will be working through kindergarten books, while my two year old colors, and does some tracing pages and other age appropriate activities.
In addition to the below list, I have purchase several guides to go with some of the literature we will be reading through. I am also again a part of the TOS Homeschool Review crew, so will be reviewing numerous resources through the year.
We don’t use each resource everyday or even every week. We use a block schedule and many of the below resources will be pulled in as needed for review or extra practice.
