First off I apologize that it seems that I have put this on the back burner. However, as Satan does on a regular basis, he tried to thwart my plans for this. First my internet went down for two days, my son injured his leg and our baby had some big issues with her SID. Our son is doing much better, though will continue to need antibiotics for the infection, and my internet is restored after four hours on the phone and two hours in the providers area office. FUN—no, not really, but I do now have internet.
Join Multi-tasking Mama and I as we get ready to read chapter 2. I found just the title to be enough to get me thinking.
Last week we read about Carolyn, a housewife, who is not satisfied with her life at home. She is tired of serving her family, she feels used and wants a break. Haven’t we all been there? I know I have, but if I turn to God, those feelings seem to be washed away, and I feel renewed immediately. Those feelings of being used, a slave and dissatisfied with being home with your family everyday are actually Satan trying to pull you in under his wing. When those feelings begin to prop up, turn to God, and run.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness~Matthew 5:6
Most of the time, when those feelings that are rooted in selfishness prop up, we are hungry and thristy for the right path, however, we tend to look everywhere, but where we need to. We call on our girl friends, and probably not the ones who truly could help us out, probably because the ones who could help us out, are not going to tell us what we WANT to hear. They will tell us what we NEED to hear, so we may not call them first. We also may allow ourselves to get drawn into a book, magazine, TV show, or movie that will only pull us further into our selfish pitty. See, Satan has a way of tugging on us in many different ways all at the same time. That is how we end up so lost to begin with.
Now, we are ready for Chapter 2. You Mean It’s Not All About Me?
Just the title of that chapter gets those thinking juices flowing. How many times have you decided just to feed everyone cold cereal, so YOU could get fifteen minutes more sleep? What about having your husband get take out, so YOU don’t have to make a meal, clean up the kitchen, and have more time for YOU? What other ways, has your selfish “needs” or wants taken control over what you should be doing? Taking care of your family’s needs at home, should be your priority. I belong to a homeschool group who meets two times a month for Mom’s Night Out. There have been many times that I miss those nights, because my husband is busy, or we need to just spend the evening together as a family. Rarely do I feel upset by this. I am actually becoming very comfortable at home, in fact, I may be on the other spectrum. This past winter, there were two times I spent six and seven weeks without ever leaving our home. This summer, needing to leave more, makes me cringe. I have become too comfortable at home in some ways.
Do any of you have that issue? Which side of the spectrum are you on?
