For my readers living near the Kansas City area, I have great news for you! If you are looking for homeschool encouragement, new curriculum, or information about how to start homeschooling, be sure to set aside April 19-21 for the Midwest Parent Educators 2012 Conference. I will also be attending this convention for the first time!
In fact, at the end of this post, there is information about how you can win passes for your family to attend the conference.
Kevin Swanson from Generations with Vision will present the keynote address at Emmanuel Baptist Church on Thursday, April 19, at 7.00 p.m. Then the conference and curriculum fair will be April 20 – 21 at the KCI Expo Center.
Sessions led by Israel Wayne and other speakers will encourage you in your commitment to homeschool and offer the practical tips you need to succeed. The sessions feature special tracks for
- families just starting out with homeschooling
- families homeschooling children with learning challenges
The exhibition hall will be full of vendors. I saw plenty of familiar names on the list: Sonlight, Teaching Textbooks, YWAM Publishing, My Father’s World, Rainbow Resource, Math-U-See, and Classical Conversations.
Over 1200 families attended the 2011 conference, and the 2012 conference is expected to be see an increase in participants. Visit the official Midwest Parent Educators 2012 Conference website for more details about lodging, registration, and more.
If you don’t win and go ahead and register, please tell them that you heard about the convention from Peace Creek on the Prairie.
Can’t wait to see you there!!

I was really hoping to find some kind of contest in my area that I had a chance of winning. Thanks for putting this on, and may the luckiest person win (hopefully it is me!)

I love the inspiration that comes from the speakers and all the ideas and materials available at the vendors’ hall.
We just moved to the area, talk about perfect timing! We are a new homeschooling family this year, and we are discovering that our oldest has some very specific learning issues, this would be very encouraging for us.
