If you can learn a new skill from a friend or family member, don’t spend money on a class. New skills will help you save money in the future, because you will be able to use something that you learned for other projects.
So, by learning to actually quilt, I will be able to make the three year old’s quilt that is waiting to be made. I can use up fabric on projects that I have even thought of trying. I can use the skill to make gifts for loved ones. So, it will open a big window of frugal opportunities. I have fabric, thread and sewing machines, I need to utilize them in a frugal fashion.
Other frugal tips from this week:
- This week I gave my husband a list of items we would be needing soon from the grocery store. As he saw them on sale at various stores, he stocked up. Therefore eliminating my need to leave the house for groceries. He had to go to different towns to pick up some parts, while he was there he would check the stores with his list.
- My husband was able to save 10 cents per gallon on fuel, by using a coupon code that I found.
- Frugal meal of the week…Brown 6 lbs ground beef/deer. Then use it in meals that you can easily stretch. Carrot sticks, oranges and pasta were on sale locally.
- I have been reading online tutorials to learn to use some of the new software that will be on my new computer. This software has the potential to allow me to make a little extra money.
Being frugal can become a game. Even if you have extra funds to spend and it is not necessary, being frugal can help you prepare for a time when it may be necessary.
