You are not alone. We are all right there with you. Even that mom over there with the perfect hair, perfect nails and happy smile. We are all weary moms… at least we all go through seasons when we are weary.
Some of us just wear it on our faces a bit more. Some have huge talents when it comes to make up. Some put on an imaginary mask to hide the weariness…
Whatever it is, we are all there at some point… it seems to go in seasons…
He gives strength to the weary, And to him who lacks might He increases power.
Isaiah 40:29
Last night, my five year old did an amazing job keeping baby awake a few extra minutes so he would go to sleep at a better time for a better night’s rest for me… umm that back fired BIG TIME… He didn’t go to sleep until after 1:30 am… and when do you suppose I had to be up? 7 am, and do you suppose he slept well in those short 5.5 hours? Nope, we were up four times to eat… EAT. The joke around here with this chubby squishy ball of sweet baby… he IS a growth spurt. It has nothing to do with him not eating enough during the day… no he eats like this ALL DAY LONG… He is just a hungry boy… it just takes a lot of food err mommy milk to make legs like this…
Since his lip/tongue tie release, the eating all the time is getting better. He can eat faster and less frequently.
But, this, this is a season and soon he would rather be running around getting into things learning about his environment than nursing away while he gently pulls on the tail of my braid.
We will go through many seasons of being weary, but we have to see the silver lining in the weariness…
When I am up with baby all night…
I am the one who gets to spend the one on one time with him. I am the only person who can provide the perfect food for him. He will for a few more years likely only want me when he is upset…
When I am weary with struggles in my marriage…
I can choose to stay mad or…
I can choose to try and talk it out and PRAY!! PRAY PRAY!
When I am weary with my teen…
I can’t run away. I can PRAY, and well that’s all I got on that one.
You know, I am going to be completely honest here… I even get weary with God… yes, I said it, dodging the tomatoes…
I am serious though. When money is tight, and the tractor breaks down, and the stove blew up (yes, it did), and there are eight other people depending on me to keep things running at home… I will think, where is God, how can He let all this happen at once? Doesn’t He see I have limits?
But, you know… He has a plan. He is preparing me for the next journey He is planning for me. When we grow weary, He is using it to build us… if we will lean on HIM… IF…
We have to stop trying to do it all under our own energy. We must rely on Him to give us the stamina. We must be sure that what we are doing is in line with what He really wants from us.
Like cold water to a weary soul, So is good news from a distant land.
