I love using clipboards to help keep us organized… from corraling drawing that my children are working on, to the extra to do list, to grocery lists… I have clipboards all around our home. However, when used, they tend to get ugly… marked up, dented, spilt on and well just yucky… So, what is a DIY Upcycled Clipboard …
It is a plain clipboard that you make all pretty and fancy in just a few short minutes!! It is fun, and if you decorate it just right, your boys will stay away from it. You can also make one just for them!!
You just need a few supplies…
- Modge Podge
- Washi Tape
- Scrapbooking Paper
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Clipboard
Let’s Get Started!!
To begin, you need to pick out your scrapbook papers… I picked two contrasting prints. Now, trim around the top, around the clip on your clip board. Don’t worry if it isn’t exact, you probably won’t be able to tell when you are done.
See, I am a bit off, I just trimmed that bit hanging off the top off.
Now, get your sponge brush and dip it in the Modge Podge. Smear a nice layer over the entire clipboard.
Lay your paper down over the Modge Podge. Line things up as best you can. Now trim the bottom of your paper off.
Now, grab your contrasting piece arrange it how you would like. You can get creative with it, and make a neat design, or keep it simple.
Grab your Washi tape and cover your paper seams with it to help hold them down and add another dimension of decor and wow to your clipboard. Now go over the whole works with your Modge Podge again. Let it dry and repeat once more just to make sure everything is stuck down well!!
Now, isn’t that a nice looking clip board? They are fun to make, you can make one for each of your children. I may even make one for my husband to use to keep track of some farm things… such as cattle…
I think I bought these clipboards for about $1-$2 each, then over time they became a bit yucky… so, instead of getting new, I updated and prettied them up a bit!!

I love it! Definitely helps make them less boring!
