Five Ways to Get through the Mommy Hard Days

Basic Disclosure for all post

Mommy Hard Days… we all have them. Those days we just want to crawl back and bed and not be bothered. We are worn out, sick and or tired. We have something that is hurting us, whether it be physically or emotionally or likely both.

Five Ways to Get Through the Mommy Hard Days

Mommy Hard Days… sometimes we have Mondays every day of the week.

Mommy Hard Days… the day a permanent marker got in the hands of a little one.

Mommy Hard Days… the day the check book won’t balance and there are bills to be paid and items our children need.

See, there are many different ways that we have those Mommy Hard Days…

How do we get through those Mommy Hard Days?

We all know going to bed is not an option…

So, what is a mom to do?

1. Prayer… I like to have some prayers ready to go on index cards in my Bible Case. I also like to add some scripture to those prayers. Pray for my kiddos and the situation.

2. Find something fun… yes, I know who has time for fun? Well, many times I find that my children are craving just a bit of fun which happens to be instigating the hard day. What to do for fun? Run in the sprinkler with your children. Or… You squirt them with the hose or a water gun as they play tag. Make up fun games and get them moving and laughing… you will soon find yourself laughing too!!

3. Have a list of 911 Friends you can Call on… text or email that will offer prayer and encouragement.

4. Use an educational movie to give you a few minutes to take on a project in the home that is causing you to stress… Do you need to catch up on tax/book keeping stuff? Pay a few bills? Call a friend? Anything that may be causing you added stress that is quick and fairly simple to tackle while your children are learning from a movie is a good thing to do now.

5. Take time to spend with your husband. When my hubby and I are disconnected, or haven’t had time to spend together… I find myself more stressed. By spending even 20 minutes a day with him, just you and him or you and him and your baby (our current situation), I become a lot less stressed!!

Another way I get through these mommy hard days, is to keep Christian Encouragement for Mom type books on hand. The Build Your Bundle Sale is coming up, and they have two bundles just for moms!!

  1. I spend some time with the Lord in His word and prayer, and sometimes even cancel school for the day. I homeschool all year round, so we have that flexibility. It was nice to get this email today, as my “mommy hard day” started on Tuesday, and has crept it’s way through Wednesday and even this morning. I have just been struggling with anxiety, and because I put myself last so much, I didn’t realize how much I was struggling until I got hit with a horrible anxiety attack (only the second one I’ve ever had). I decided to take a few days off, and me and the kids just did devotions, painting, movies, and cooking yesterday. I’m thankful I have older ones, 13 and 11, who have been helping with the cooking and cleaning. They have been such a blessing. But today, I am trying really hard to get things back to normal. I made breakfast and we’re all getting ready to get out of the house for the day. My 13 year old took over the dishes without saying a word, which again, is a blessing for me. We’re definitely in need of some “fun”. I hope any of you ladies out there that are having a hard time remember that you’re not alone, and that taking some time out to have fun and help out can also be educational. Kids need to learn that helping out, caring for others, and having fun are ALL part of life. I’m a little out of sorts at the moment, so I hope I’m making sense. But, I’m thankful for Betty’s post today. It feels encouraging to know that I’m not alone.
