We have really been enjoying this curriculum. My son took lesson one a bit further and used it for Nature Study Tuesday. We work through one lesson every two weeks, you may notice that we do tend to drag lessons out longer then the company plans for on a regular basis.
One of the great things about Considering God’s Creation is how easy it is to customize for different ages. My three and four year olds enjoy listening to each lesson, and my olders (6,8, &11), work on the note booking pages. My oldest like to take time to dig deeper so I have split the lessons to take two weeks, to allow him the time, and he will then talk about his further investigations with his younger siblings.
I liked the fact that most of the lessons are open and go, with very little teacher prep, typically about 15 min per week. In my experience, many science resources that include activities and experiments, would take 20 minutes a day to prepare for.
The teacher’s manual is laid out nicely, showing you how to prepare first, then vocabulary, an introduction to the lesson, the song/poem, and activity, the notebook pages, bible reading, and evolution stumpers, review, and digging deeper. My oldest really loved the evolution stumpers, digging deeper and the activities. My eight year old loved the notebook pages and Bible reading.
The note booking pages cover many skills, cutting, pasting, coloring, retrieving information, and so forth. They are fun, and engaging without being overwhelming…they are not just writing of a bunch of information that you tend to find with many note booking pages.
We will be continuing to use Considering God’s Creation through the summer…or maybe next fall depending on the busy-ness of our summer…right now=BUSY. lol
I encourage you to read the other TOS Crew reviews of Considering God’s Creation. Also, I am browsing around the Eagle’s Wings site more as I may need a couple resources for my younger crowd, you should check out their other products too.
