Easy Crafty Christmas Gifts

The month of December is a great time to get your craft on. And while you get your craft on, why not make a few quick and easy gifts for your friends and family? Most all of these crafty items can be made even with your kiddos around and they may want to help a bit too!!

Many times making a few crafty gifts will also save you quite a few dollars. These gifts also tend to mean more years down the road. I still have the stocking my grandma made me when I was about 15 months. It is tattered and not as spiffy as it once was, but so well loved and has such means as she passed away when I was 12.

Here is a list of crafty goodness. Some are links to Pinterest finds!!

  • Jamberry Jar of Goodies…

I am going to be giving a Jamicure in a Jar away at a couple of Christmas Gatherings.

You will need some hand cream, Jamberry application Kit, Jamberry nail Wraps, and I am making a sugar scrub and a jar with fabric for the lid.

For a simpler set, you could get the Jamberry Holiday Gift Set.

  • Take a sketch book and decorate the covers with fabric, and or scrapbooking paper, then write a sentiment on the first page. Now you have a very special customized journal for someone.

Keeping Track of Whose Cup is Whose…

Several months ago I read about Drinkbands.  I LOVE the idea, but being who I am, could not really see myself spending the money on them, $12,50 for nine different colors.  I know my children too, and realize they could likely get lost in little to no time.   Hey, being real here with toddlers in the house who love to play make believe at all times.

Over time, the idea kept coming back to me, over and over again… I would walk into the kitchen and see ten to fifteen cups on the table and only have eight people in the house and have no clue whose cup was whose, I knew I needed to figure something out.

And then I had a light bulb moment…

Remember those “Jelly Bracelets” from the 80s?  You know, the ones that are coming back into style?

Well, they work on many of our cups.  They are cheap…for 40 bracelets in 10 different colors, I paid $6.  I found them at our local Dollar General.  Bingo, they work on our child size cups, and my children are loving them.

If we have company with other littles in the house, I will combine colors on one cup, so they know what cup is theirs.

DIY Crafting Your Own Floral Wreath for less than $25

I love wreathes, but I hate the prices of those that are premade.  Even though I love them, in the past I have only had one for winter/Christmas.  However, this year I stepped out and made a gorgeous fall wreath.

To make a wreath similar to this, you will need:

  • 12 inch Straw Covered Styrofoam Wreath (about $3)
  • Several stems or groupings of seasonal flowers ($12 or so)
  • Bobby Pins (like you use in your hair)  ($0 as many of us have these on hand)
  • Spools of ribbon to coordinate with your flowers ($3-$5)
  • A few stick pins

First, take the plastic wrapping off your wreath.

Now wrap some pretty coordinating ribbon around the wreath and secure each section with a straight pin. (stick pin)

Next start fastening your flowers on as you like.  I didn’t use any sequence, just put them on.  I fastened the stems using bobby pins.

Notice the ribbon I have wrapped around the wreath there?

Go all the way around the wreath with the flowers.

To make my bow, I just made loops and arranged them as I liked.  I used two coordinating ribbon colors to make this bow and then used a straight pin to attached the gourd to the center of the bow, right into the wreath, also attaching the bow.   I used a stapler to help each of the loops stay the way I wanted as I made the bow.

Here is my completed wreath.
